The chief of medecine at the World Health Organisation has criticized the Gates Foundation's influence on malaria research. In a memo to his boss, Dr. Arata Kochi claims there is so much money flowing in and that a lot of the projects are linked, so that it is stiffling independent review of the research. Pre Gates Foundation involvement, annual budgets for malaria research were around 84 million $. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation poured in 1.3 billion. Well, yeah - they have a lot of influence.
