Martin Luther King's birthday has now been celebrated officially since 20 years. Coming so soon after the death of Rosa Parks, it reminds us of that period and what they were able to achieve in terms of ending legal segregation in the US, and applying varied approaches to the problems of minorities. Also they are icons in effective non-violent demonstration. Martin Luther King's vision of democracy and human rights, his actions, his mobilizing capabilities, his great oratory made us dream of a better world. His vision and message have stood the test of time. We really should think of globalizing this, exporting this around the world. Celebrate this.
