It is not equality yet, but at least a step in the direction of fairness for women in Pakistan, as the national assembly has voted to amend the country's strick Sharia laws on rape and adultry. The opponents claim that this will lead to lewd behavior and sexual licence. This seems hard to believe, as rapist are currently not prosecuted, and Pakistan has one of the highest rape statistics. If there is some legal redress, hopefully there will be less rapes. In any case, this is some progress. Read more on bbc.com
